Transfer Rumor - Aris to take US International Eddie Johnson from Fulham on loan.

News from the Reuters Newswire has Aris Thessaloniki trying to secure a loan deal for Fulham and U.S. forward Eddie Johnson. It is reported that as soon as Aris comes to terms with the release of Uruguayan International Sebastian Abreau it will have a foreign player roster spot for the American. I have seen Eddie Johnson play on a number of occasions both on television and in person. I have followed him from his days as a Jr. International with the US, then on to FC Dallas and the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS. The Speedy forward scored 15 goals in his final MLS season before being purchased by the up and coming English side Fulham. Fulham used Johnson on occasion but decided to ship him on loan to Cardiff after his first stint in London. He scored 2 goals in the championship with Cardiff and returned to Fulham this year. He has seen some playing time in various competitions in England but has not managed to find a regular spot ahead of strikers like Bobby Zamora or Andy Johnson. The upside for Aris on Eddie Johnson is his size and speed. He will also be attempting to impress US national team coach Bob Bradley with hopes of getting a chance to participate in the World Cup being held next summer. The downside has always been Eddie's apparent lack of work ethic. Lazy at times and ghost like at others, Eddie has a tendency to disappear from games entirely. Aris fans will hope that his lessons while sitting the bench in England will provide the proper motivation needed should he be given playing chances for Aris. Aris is a team in desperate need of a consistent scoring option following the failure of Abreau to settle in Greece and a once again ineffective campaign from Sergio Koke.
